I can't remember the first time I heard it or who it was that shared it with me, but a wise man once said that every downfall is another opportunity for one to get back up and fight. For some reason that particular quote has resonated with me a lot over the past few weeks. Even as I sit here and write this blog it just seems so relative in where I'm currently at in my life. As we begin to evolve as human beings we quickly come to the realization that not everything is going to be as we once thought it would. We may not look or dress the way we once did. We may not have some of the same relationships we once thought we would have. Hell...we may not even be the same person we were last week, but at the end of the day that's okay. A huge part of life is learning from our mistakes then using those particular experiences to become the best version of ourselves. Sometimes the hardest part of it all isn't the fall, it's getting back up out of the dirt when we do.
With that being said, the past few months have been filled with some experiences where I might of needed to borrow a duster or two. However, making the decision to stand back up on my two feet and put up a fight, has made those experiences all worth while. Sometimes we can miss out on opportunities when we let those situations distract us from the bigger picture. Earlier this year I found myself being distracted by some of the things that were happening in my own life. I begin to question everything around me and began to plant seeds of doubt in almost every aspect of my life. Once I discovered what it was I was doing I stopped and reminded myself what I was truly passionate about. For me personally, that would be my love of menswear, my businesses and the opportunity to share my story with others.
After reminding myself of things I was so passionate about, I began to pick myself back up and continue to do so each and every day. Last month menswear blog Attire Club recognized those same passions and asked to feature my story in their first international menswear magazine InCompany. With that magazine, I was able to pay it forward and share my own story AND some of the struggles that came along with that story to the world. For that experience I am forever grateful. Shortly after InCompany Magazine hit the shelves in the United States, I was honored to receive the news that my own clothing store, KIE Men's Shoppe, had been selected as the ‘BEST Men's Clothing Store’ in Central Texas by Maroon Weekly.
When it's all said and done we have to thank life for those times it decided to knock us down, because without those, we would never be able to get back up and fight for what we we believe in. I encourage you all to do the same and never give up on what you truly love. Life is about making mistakes and standing up for what you believe in. After all, a wise man also said that if you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.
We may not have the answers to everything life throws at us, BUT will never know unless we decide to get back up and find out. If that doesn't work...then just pop open a bottle of bubbly and celebrate...because Champagne is always the answer.
